so I took a day off work on the yester to run some errands. in the midst of doing so, we randomly decided to (finally) try out the Gold Class at Golden Village. to be honest, I am never particular about watching movie in comfort. people who knows me would know that I can be easily satisfied watching downloaded shows at the comfort of my own home. but well, I suppose this 3-hour long show (The Wolf on Wall Street) made it a little more worth spending the money. what’s more, it was in the middle of the day and we were the only ones in the entire cinema..

anyhow, having checked the different luxurious cinemas of the 3 big theaters in Singapore off my to-try list, I’d like to share my thoughts on them.

tried out the seats at Shaw Premiere about a year or so back when they just started at Lido. pretty awed by the service provided. love the ticket studs that was in shiny silver too. the best thing compared to the other two was the TRUFFLE FRIES! not sure how much their service and food has changed by now but it was something that we really love, then.

tried the Platinum Suites by Cathay at JEM next, just a few weeks back thanks to the opening promotion they had. movie selection was really limited over there but I absolutely love their thick fluffy blankets and the high-privacy “cubicle”. I like the way the seats were enclosed, you can’t really see the people in front or behind you unless you really make the effort to. the food (potato platter) we ordered wasn’t as great though but yea, 2 thumbs up for the space and surroundings!

and finally, the Golden Village Gold Class which I believe is the oldest of the 3. we went to the one at Vivocity. the service was so-so, nobody actually really did serve or walk you to your seats or explain anything bout the seats to you (unlike the one at Cathay). probably they expect you to know everything yourselves. btw, they didn’t even bother to check our ticket studs. I also didn’t like the way the seats were arranged. you can easily see everyone around the theatre and there isn’t any privacy. so yea, lucky we were the only ones around! but guess what? I think the comfy seats won it all! although the place was pretty old compared to the other 2, I must say the sofa was too comfy to be complained about. you literally can lie flat like a bed when at it’s lowest and I literally fell asleep. food was not too bad as well but there wasn’t any additional spot light you could turn on/off to see the stuff on your table better.

in conclusion, everything would be PERFECTO if they had GV’s sofa with Shaw’s service and menu inside Cathay’s spacious arrangement of the seats along with their fluffy blankets! but of cos, nothing’s perfect. *laughs*

anyway, all of the above was only based on the 3 malls mentioned, doesn’t represent for all other Gold Class or Platinum Suites or Premiere Screens at other places. (:
